Marvellous
Monforte de Lemos
Monforte de Lemos, known as the capital of the Ribeira Sacra region, is a beautiful medieval town featuring great cultural heritage. The so-called Galician Escorial stands out, where some of El Greco’s works are housed. Another of its main attractions is the area’s characteristic Mencía vineyards.
Overwhelming
Cabezoas Viewpoint
The best panoramic view of the River Sil Canyons at your feet.
Peaceful
Doade
A route to discover the largest area of Amandi vineyards, which belong to the Rebeira Sacra designation of origin. There’s also the possibility of visiting some of the area’s wineries with tasting included.
Picturesque
Castro Caldelas
We recommend stopping over in the picturesque village of Castro Caldela due to the landscape surrounding its castle: at the top of the hill, surrounded by terraced slopes, it is worthwhile contemplating the view. Another curious feature is the presence of traditional octopus stands in its streets some days of the week.
Impressive
River Sil Canyons
The River Sil Canyons are the area’s biggest attraction. These large rocky formations, after which the region is called (Ribeira Sacra), surrounded by vineyards and bathed by the Sil and Miño rivers, are navigable along 40 km.
Marvellous
Santo Estevo de Ribas do Sil
An 11th-century Benedictine monastery that stands out due to its beautiful Romanesque cloister, in which different artistic movements coexist. It now operates as a hotel belonging to the Paradores chain.
