Santiago Cathedral’s famous censer flies through the naves regularly so that tourists, pilgrims and residents may admire this great Compostela tradition that began in the 11th century; its objective was to perfume the cathedral due to the bad odour caused by the weary, sweaty and unwashed pilgrims.
